Terms of Service

1. Provider and scope

These Terms apply to Afterroll, a private photo app and web app for close friend groups operated by Matthias Schönborn, Wilhelmstraße 28, 44137 Dortmund, Germany, email: dev@afterroll.app.

They apply to the mobile app, the web app, guest contributions through Collection links, and all related services. The German and English versions are equivalent versions of these Terms.

2. Eligibility and account use

You may use Afterroll only if you are at least 16 years old and can comply with these Terms. For account features, you must provide accurate information, protect your credentials, and tell us if you suspect unauthorized use.

Guests may contribute through a Collection link without a full account. Guests must at least follow the rules on photos, consent, privacy, and community safety.

3. App use and intellectual property

Afterroll and the related app, web app, design, brands, logos, text, software, and technical systems remain the property of the provider or the respective rights holders. While you use Afterroll, you receive a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable permission to use the app and web app under these Terms.

You may not copy, resell, rent, abusively automate, reverse engineer, or use Afterroll in a way that harms operations, security, or the rights of others.

4. Private photos, friends, and Collections

Afterroll is intended for private photo memories. Photos may become visible in Daily Rolls, friend groups, and Collections. Reveal times, shot limits, friendships, Collection memberships, and guest access determine who can see or contribute content.

Upload only photos that you are allowed to capture, share, and show in the relevant Collection or friend group. If other people are shown, you must make sure any required consent is in place.

5. Rights in content

Your photos and other content remain yours. You grant Afterroll a non-exclusive, worldwide, technically necessary right to host, store, process, transmit, show to authorized recipients, create previews or variants, back up, and moderate that content as required to operate, secure, and support Afterroll.

Afterroll does not receive rights to use your private photos for advertising or public product communication without separate permission.

6. Community Guidelines and prohibited use

Photos, contributions, guests, and interactions with other users are also governed by our Community Guidelines. They explain which content and behavior are prohibited and how reports are handled.

We are not required to generally monitor all content. If a possible violation is reported to us or otherwise becomes known, we may review it. Where possible and appropriate, we consider context and review reports manually.

If these Terms, the Community Guidelines, applicable law, or security interests are violated, we may remove content, limit visibility, restrict Collection access, temporarily suspend accounts, or permanently delete accounts. If you disagree with a moderation decision, you can contact us through support.

7. Purchases and paid features

Afterroll may offer paid features, such as larger Collections. In-app purchases are handled through the relevant App Store, Google Play, or comparable platforms. We may use service providers to technically verify purchase status and entitlements. Payment processing, taxes, cancellations, and refunds are primarily governed by the rules of the relevant platform.

8. Availability and service changes

We aim to operate reliably but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or a permanent backup service for your photos. Features may be changed, limited, or discontinued when required for operations, security, law, or product development.

9. Termination and deletion

You may stop using Afterroll at any time and delete your account according to the app features. We may stop providing the service, remove content, or suspend or delete accounts when required because of violations, security risks, abuse, legal obligations, or protection of other users.

We delete or anonymize data according to product logic, legal duties, and our Privacy Policy. Security, support, or moderation data may be retained for a limited time where necessary.

10. Liability

We are fully liable for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body, or health, and mandatory statutory liability. In cases of slight negligence, we are liable only for breach of essential contractual duties and only for foreseeable, typical contractual damages.

You are responsible for your content, rights clearance, and use of Afterroll. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms if Afterroll, the legal situation, security requirements, or technical processes change. We will inform you of material changes at least 30 days before they take effect through the app, web, email, or a comparable method.

Urgent changes required for legal, security, or technical reasons may apply sooner. Changes do not apply retroactively to your disadvantage. If you do not agree with changed Terms, you can stop using Afterroll and delete your account.

12. Final provisions

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you habitually reside remain unaffected.

If individual provisions are invalid, the remaining provisions remain effective. The current version is always available on this page.
